ARMY

I joined the Army as a Broadcast Journalist or 46R in 1995.  My first duty station was Ft. Richardson, Alaska near Anchorage.  I spent 3.5 years in Alaska where I traveled to various locations all over the Pacific Rim including Guam, Kosrae, Kwajalein, Hawaii, Japan, Korea, and Thai Land.  After Alaska I finished up my Army career in Alexandria, VA at Soldiers Radio and TV, the ArmyÕs premiere broadcast station.  At SRTV I became Senior Producer for the biweekly newsmagazine program Army Newswatch and traveled the world as a news correspondent.

Command Videos

Fort LewisI produced this video right after I got out of the Army.  I did nearly everything on this command video including shooting, producing, editing, and music composition.  Produced in 2001.

OFTF – Production on the Objective Force Task Force(OFTF) started just before 9/11.  The Army has an annual meeting AUSA in Washington D.C. where this video was originally going to be played.  Since the conference was suspended that year the video was used in a different manner.  I was pretty much a one man band on this production.  The only thing I didnÕt do was write it.  I produced, edited, did graphics, and audio post on this video. Produced in 2001.

U.S. Army Alaska – This is one of my first command videos.  It was produced in 1997 to show what we had covered that year in Alaska.  I shot everything in the video and edited it on a 9500 Powermac Avid Media Composer.

News Stories

Institute For Creative Technology – The Army gave this new facility located near Los Angeles, CA roughly 14 million dollars to help them develop 3D simulation technologies.  I produced, shot, edited, and wrote this story.  Produced in 2000.

Army Nascar – It was the fastest growing spectator sport in this country, it may still be.  Army Recruiting decided to get their piece of that craze. I produced, shot, edited, and wrote this story.  Produced in 1999.

Presence Patrol in Kosovo – A group of broadcasters wanted to get the Kosovo story.  I went along for the ride and got a few stories of my own.  This story follows part of an infantry unit along the streets of Kosovo in 2000.  I produced, edited, shot, and wrote this story.

Army Recruiting Commercial – Hollywood meets the Army.  Richard Richardson, cinematographer to movies like Platoon, A Few Good Men, and nearly every Oliver Stone flick was hired to shoot this set of commercials based on Army Rangers.  I was lucky enough to interview him and put this story together.  I produced, shot, edited, and wrote this story. Produced in 1999.

Spirit of America – Every year the Army holds this event in the D.C. area.  This non-narrative piece takes a look at the soldiers who are in the show.  I produced, shot, edited, and wrote this story in 1999.

Spots

The following spots were created in a short amount of time once a month for Soldiers Magazine.  The idea was to make a donut that would last at least a few months.  I produced, wrote, edited, composed the music, and did all graphics for these spots.

Soldiers Magazine 1, Soldiers Magazine 2, Soldiers Magazine 3, Soldiers Magazine 4, Soldiers Magazine 5, Soldiers Magazine 6, Soldiers Magazine 7, Take a Little Time, Jingle Bell Rock
